Environmental Rooms and Boxes
Columbia University Medical Center Facilities is responsible for environmental chambers, HVAC and control equipment designed to accommodate laboratory, research or computer requirements. This equipment includes air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation fans, exhaust fans, and similar devices.
There is no charge for maintenance and service of this equipment. Routine preventive maintenance checks of departmental equipment can be scheduled through the service request form. When an inspection indicates a need for repairs or further servicing, the work will be scheduled with the department. In the event a new installation or modification is required, a price estimate is furnished to the department for authorization of additional work.
A fee for installation of and modifications to environmental rooms and boxes is charged to the requesting department based on an hourly rate (link to “CUMC FM Service Rates”) plus the cost of materials.
