Hammer Bldg. Temporary Fume Hood Disruption, March 20-22
Thursday, March 9, 2017

Updated Tuesday, March 21: This shutdown is complete. Environmental Health and Safety has recertified all fume hoods as of this afternoon.

Fume hood exhaust fans will be temporarily unavailable throughout the Hammer Health Sciences Center from 7 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 through 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, due to electrical upgrades.

During this time, laboratory users are instructed to avoid using fume hoods and tightly seal all containers within the fume hood or remove and safely store containers elsewhere in the lab. Once the repairs have been completed, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) will be on site beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22 to spot check fume hood exhaust flow.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve our facilities. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact John Kakleas, project engineer, at jk3796@cumc.columbia.edu.
