Housing Newsletter: Week of May 15, 2017

 

Housing Update 

Congratulations to all 2017 Graduates! We’ve enjoyed having you as a member of the CUMC Housing community, and we hope you have enjoyed your time with us.

 

We are working diligently to assist you during the move-out process for the weekend(s) of May 26 and June 2, 2017. As you prepare to depart CUMC, please note the following updates:

  • Additional Public Safety foot patrols during these weekends
  • No parking signs- to access moving trucks/vans along Haven Avenue

 

During these Move-Out dates of 5/26 and 6/2, our staff will be available to assist with the move-out process. There will also be staging areas located in Towers 1, 2, 3 that will provide large boxes and dollies. If you are using moving trucks, they will be allowed to park along Haven Avenue, but should be attended.

 

Construction Updates

Bard Hall Local Law 11

Construction work at the east and north elevations has been completed. Work on the west and south façades continues through June as the contractor progresses toward final inspection. Architect and Contractor inspections of the west and south façades continue. Please make sure that your window blinds are closed during the day for privacy. Please excuse the noise while this work is being performed.

 

Towers 2 and 3 Dryers

Temporary dryers are installed in both Towers 2 and 3 temp locations.  The Engineer and Architect are preparing design documents for the permanent dryer installations. Upon selecting a contractor, we will issue an installation schedule.  

 

390 Fort Washington Avenue – Local Law 11 Façade Repairs

A sidewalk shed will be installed on May 20, 2017. Contractors will be on site performing facade repairs during the upcoming weeks. Please make sure that your window blinds are closed during the day for privacy. Please excuse the noise while this work is being performed. More information will be provided once repair dates are established.

 

Tower 3 Roof and Exhaust Fan Replacement

The existing exhaust fans servicing the Tower 3 bathrooms, kitchens and corridor will be replaced with new fans and the roof will be replaced in its entirety. The new fan and roof installation will continue through May. Rooftop fan replacement will occur during the weeks of 5/15 and 5/22. The contractors will continue to access the roof until the project is complete. Please excuse the noise while this work is being performed.

 

Towers Modernization Project 

Tower 2- 29th Floor Apartment Renovation

The existing apartment located in Tower 2, #29A, is being renovated. Demolition is complete and construction will continue through May. Please excuse the noise while this work is being performed. Site protection is installed.

 

Tower 2- 26, 27, 28 & 29 floor(s) Office to Apartment Renovations

The existing office spaces located in Tower 2 on the 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th floors are being renovated back to apartments. Construction will continue through May. Please excuse the noise while this work is being performed. Site protection is installed.

 

Towers 2 & 3 Fire Alarm Upgrade

The fire alarm system is being upgraded in Towers 2 & 3. Conduit and device installation continues in Tower 2, stairwells A and B. Note that the fire alarm devices are currently not active and have temporary covers fastened onto the face plates. Please excuse the noise while this work is being performed.
