Amador Centeno, Vice President for Facilities Management and Campus Services, came to Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) in January 2008. He oversees two central administrative divisions at CUMC: Facilities Management and Campus Services. Facilities Management is comprised of Custodial Operations, Engineering & Maintenance, Capital Project Management, Facilities Compliance, Student Housing Services, Energy Management & Sustainability and Facilities Finance & Administration. Campus Services includes Health Sciences Library, Faculty Club, CUMC Public Safety and Student Health Services.
The division of Facilities Management and Campus Services is CUMC’ s largest administrative unit with an operating budget of approximately 158 million, a 2013 capital budget of 155 million, and more than 300 employees, including members of four unions.
Before joining Columbia, Mr. Centeno worked at Beth Israel Medical Center where he served as the Vice President of Administration overseeing Environmental Services, Engineering, Food Service, Security, Material Management, Biomedical Engineering, Linen, Safety, Transportation & Mail Services, Hazardous Waste Management and PACC Facilities. He holds a Master of Science degree in Health Service Administration from Iona College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Lehman College.
