Energy
Efficient & Sustainable Energy
Introduction
Columbia University Medical Center has made a conscious commitment to reduce our environment impact on the world through energy and greenhouse gas reduction. As the Medical Center works to educate the doctors, nurses and health professionals of tomorrow, it, too, needs to work towards the “do no harm” philosophy in the environment it creates for the students, faculty, and staff and its footprint on the earth. It is important that the students graduating from the Medical Center see its own education facility emanating the viewpoints that they should take out into the world for their future careers.
Mission Statement
To find sustainable energy solutions to reduce Columbia University Medical Center’s carbon footprint, energy intensity and the energy-related costs and reliability associated with the operation of the campus, while enhancing the learning and medical center environment for students, faculty, and staff.
