Our project managers coordinate all activities related to the development of capital projects. We work closely with campus groups, administrators, and clients; architects, engineers, and related professional services; and various construction contractors and subcontractors to execute projects, within budget and on time.

Meet Our Team

  • Anthony Donatich

    • Director, Capital Project Management

    Anthony Donatich oversees capital budgets, schedules, design, and construction for renovations, restorations, and new construction projects for Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Capital Project Management. He has managed lab expansions, office renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and façade restorations. His recent notable work includes the Columbia University School of Nursing building project and streetscape improvement project. He was promoted from project manager to director in spring of 2017.

    Before joining Columbia University in 2009, Anthony served as director of capital project management for Time Inc., where he led the day-to-day management of capital projects, facilities, and occupancy for three million square feet of the world’s largest magazine publisher. As senior project manager for Jones Lang LaSalle, a leading global real estate firm, he worked on corporate client accounts for Aon, Bank of America, Disney, and Food Network. As assistant vice president of Property Management for NatWest Bank, he oversaw the Design and Construction Department for all retail bank branches in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester. He holds a bachelor of architecture from the Pratt Institute and is a registered architect in New York.

    Anthony Donatich
  • Dejan Bratun

    • Director, Capital Project Management

    Dejan Bratun oversees all aspects of planning, design, construction, and project management for Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s various research, healthcare, and infrastructure projects. His recent project accomplishments include ColumbiaDoctors Tarrytown, College of Dental Medicine’s Center for Precision Dental Medicine, ColumbiaDoctors Radiology MRI Center, and numerous other research and healthcare projects.

    Before joining Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 2012, Dejan practiced engineering at the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) and HLW International. Some of his notable engineering projects include the CUIMC Taub Institute research space, the SUNY Health Science Center, the News America Marketing Data Center, and the NYC Transit Command Center.

    He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Belgrade, an MBA from California State University, and an MS in construction administration from Columbia University.  He specializes in institutional research and healthcare design and construction.

  • Fernando Bedoya

    • Associate Director, Capital Project Management

    Fernando Bedoya is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing research lab renovation projects, dental suites, and other projects. He develops budgets models, coordinates schematic phases, maintains construction documents, executes the bidding and contract negotiations, and supervises all phases of construction.

    Before joining Columbia University in 2010, Fernando spent more than a decade as a senior projects manager at Continuum Health Partners, including Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke-Roosevelt Hospital. While there, he worked on health-care and non-health-care projects with budgets ranging from $8 to $50 million. He reviewed and coordinated all architectural, engineering, and interior design documents to ensure their compliance with hospital policies and procedures for construction, fire and safety, and infection control, and as well as compliance with Department of Health, Department of Buildings, Fire Department, Joint Commission, and environmental building standards.

  • Jorge Carnero

    • Senior Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Jorge Carnero manages and coordinates all phases of major capital and middle-range construction projects, including design and budget development, project evaluation for feasibility and code conformance, bidding, construction, scheduling, quality control, project files, and financial status reports. He ensures that work is completed on time and within budget.

    Jorge is an essential communicator, serving as an owner's representative with consultant architects, engineers, general contractors, construction managers, and other project vendors. He maintains a close working relationship with clients as well as maintenance and operations personnel, continuously informing them of the project status.

    Before joining Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Jorge worked at several architectural firms in New York City as an assistant project architect. He holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from the City College of New York.

  • Sonya Chao

    • Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Sonya Chao, AIA, LEED Green Associate, joined Capital Project Management in 2023 as a project manager. In previous roles, she coordinated mixed-use towers at Studio Libeskind and led hospitality projects at Rockwell Group and Soho House. Sonya has experience in all stages of design from new construction to renovation for commercial, institutional, and residential projects. She has earned degrees from Princeton University and Harvard University.

  • Joseph Francomano

    • CARE Group Manager, Capital Project Management

    Joseph Francomano leads the Construction and Refresh Effort (CARE) Crew, a team of skilled workers who refresh and reinvigorate public spaces across the Columbia University Irving Medical Center campus. He oversees the project scope of work; budgets; and the selection and purchase of materials, equipment, and finishes. He also develops and manages schedules for all aspects of projects, including design, construction, end user coordination for information technology, and move-in requirements. Joe prepares requisitions, purchase orders, and change orders; and processes subcontractor change orders and invoices. He has more than 30 years of construction management experience in commercial construction as an estimator, project manager, and field superintendent.

  • Lydia Hernandez

    • Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Lydia Hernandez has 22 years experience in the construction industry as a senior electrical engineer and project manager. She has managed projects for NewYork-Presbyterian and fire alarm upgrade projects at Columbia’s John Jay Hall & McBain Hall student residences. Lydia is a graduate of Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Engineering degree.

  • Christine Livathinos

    • Executive Assistant, Capital Project Management

    A key member of Capital Project Management, Christine Livathinos plays a pivotal role in supporting the assistant vice president of Capital Project Management in day-to-day coordination, projects, and planning for the future.

    Before joining Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Christine served as executive assistant to the president and CEO of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for nearly 10 years. She received a bachelor's degree in Business Management from St. Francis College.

  • Frank Menard

    • Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Frank Menard joined Capital Project Management in mid-2017. He began his long career in construction more than 20 years ago as a laborer. Since then, he has managed the construction of new condo developments, commercial office spaces, and advanced medical facilities in hospitals.

    Frank holds a bachelor of science in management information systems from Marist College.

  • Misa Radulov

    • Senior Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Misa Radulov joined the Capital Project Management team in 2014 as a project manager. Misa oversees and coordinates construction and renovation projects taking place in on-campus residences. His colleagues honored him with a Giraffe Award in 2017 for his dedication to going above and beyond in his work.

  • Lucy Riederer

    • Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Lucy Riederer (AAIA, LEED AP) is an architect working towards her license. She has NYC and NJ healthcare experience in capital project management, including real estate site feasibility analysis, lease, and CM contract negotiation.  She recently completed a cGMP for Valley Health System in Paramus, NJ.  She has worked for the Design and Construction Department as a project manager for Memorial Sloan Kettering and Montefiore Medical Center. Her architectural and Radiology experience includes working for Jeffrey Berman Architect and KPF.

  • Santia Valerio

    • Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Santia Valerio joined the Capital Project Management team as an associate project manager in late 2017. She assists in the planning and coordination of campus improvement projects.

    Before joining CPM, Santia spent five years as a project engineer on the mechanical, engineering, and plumbing (MEP) team of RAND Engineering & Architecture DPC, a restoration and renovation consulting firm. She received a BS in mechanical engineering with a minor in engineering design from Carnegie Mellon University.

  • Gabriel Villegas

    • Senior Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Gabriel Villegas, AIA, LEED AP, is a licensed architect and the newest project manager in Capital Project Management. Before joining Columbia, Gabriel worked for Montefiore Medical Center as a project manager in The Bronx. He has worked on healthcare, residential and commercial projects in all stages of design, construction management, regulatory, and fire safety compliance.

  • Jerry Wang

    • Senior Project Manager, Capital Project Management

    Jerry Wang - (AIA, LEED AP BD+C) is a licensed architect who has practiced in both Shanghai and New York. Before joining Columbia, Jerry was as a project architect in the Healthcare Studio at Perkins Eastman Architects. He has worked on a number of healthcare projects across New York City including the Memorial Sloan Kettering David H. Koch Center, and most recently served as the architectural project lead for New York City Health+Hospitals’ COVID-19 Center of Excellence in Bushwick. His current projects include CUIMC's new electric lab research building, a ground up 9 story all-electric lab building and vivarium with community and meeting spaces included.
