The CUMC Communications Department is responsible for providing timely coordinated, accurate information to the CUMC community, the news media and the public about the nature and status of the emergency. In so doing, staff from the Communications Department, under the direction of the Chief Communications Officer in concert with the Emergency Director, will report to the Emergency Command Center and work to gather information and develop an appropriate communications plan. Other Communications staff will provide content for web updates, broadcast email, and media briefings, as well as coordinate with other media officials from City agencies, NYP, and Columbia University’s Morningside campus.

The CUMC Advisory Hotline is activated with voice message updates in the event of a CUMC institutional emergency. The Hotline number is 212.305.7300.
