Parkinson's Disease in the Ashkenazi Jewish Study
Do you have Parkinson's Disease (PD)? Are all four of your grandparents of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry? If you answered yes to both questins, you may be eligible to participate in a new study to investigate the genetic risk factors that increase susceptibility to the development of PD. Participation involves a blood draw and questionnaires, and the study visit should take no more than one hour. Genetic research results are not released to study participants, however, it is hoped that information gained from the research will lead to a better understanding of the causes of PD, which may allow better approaches to treatment in the future. For more information, please contact Dr. Itay Bar at (212) 305-0730.

CORE (Consortium on Risk for Early-Onset Parkinson's Disease) Study
Do you have Parkinson's Disease (PD) that was diagnosed by a neurologist? Did you experience onset of motor signs at or before age 50? If you answered yes to these two questions, then you may be eligible to participate in a new study to investigate genetic and environmental risk factors that increase susceptibility to the development of PD. Participation involves a blood draw, questionnaires, and a neurological exam; the study visit should take no more than one hour. Genetic research results are not released to study participants, however, it is hoped that information gained from the research will lead to a better understanding of the causes of PD, which may allow better approaches to treatment in the future.
