Enrichment Activities

imageThroughout the academic year, STEP parents and students benefit from an array of fairs, workshops, and information sessions, such as

College Fair & Tours
College admissions and financial aid representatives are invited to visit the program to answer questions and provide literature.  Whenever possible, bus outings to visit some schools are planned for the students.

Financial Aid Workshop
Parents receive assistance on applying for college financial aid and scholarships

Health Careers Day
Graduate students from the various schools at Columbia speak with STEP students about career opportunities in the health fields.

imageHealth Fair
Students are provided information on how to maintain good physical health through nutrition and exercise and proper preventive treatment.

Peer Pressure Workshop
Guest speakers address students on drugs, gangs, and conflict resolution

What Parents Need to Know about High School Selection
An information session to assist parents of 7th & 8th graders with selecting the best high schools for their children.
