Ming-Xin Tang is an Associate Professor in Department of Biostatistics and the Gertrude H. Sergievsky Center.

Biographical Sketch

Dr. Tang received a BA in Mathematics from Fudan University, Shanghai, People's Republic of China (1966), a MA in Statistics from Hunter College (1985) and a PhD in Statistics, from Columbia University (1990).

He received the following awards and honors:

1985 - Rose Sacks Scholarship in Hunter College

1985-1989 - Fellowship in Columbia University

1990 - John Van Ryzin Prize "For an Outstanding Dissertation in Biostatistics or Statistics" in Department of Statistics and Biostatatistics, Columbia University

1995-1997 - Faculty Scholar Award from Alzheimer's Association
He serves as a Statistician in Sergievsky Center and a teacher in Department of Biostatistics.

Research Summary

Dr. Tang's research is applying statistical methods to public healthy data. His f ields of interest are: Nonparametrics, Empirical Processes, Multivariate Analysis, Generalized Linear Models, Survival Analysis, Discrete Statistical Analysis, Repeated Measurement, Experimental Design and Statistical Applications in Biomedical and Public Health Sciences. He has published over 65 papers in these areas. Most recently, Dr. Tang has been interested in related data study, such as family genetic study, to develop new methodology.
