Our laboratory is focused on translational lung cancer research and functional genomics. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States. Despite advances in imaging, surgical techniques, and anti-neoplastic pharmacology, the five year survival rate of lung cancer has remained relatively fixed at 13-15% during the past 30 years. Recent research has identified novel therapeutic targets and specific molecular features of tumors that promise to enhance the individualization of cancer therapy and to improve lung cancer survival.

Our laboratory investigations are directed to understanding the molecular events that are important in the early stages of lung cancer development and progression as well as to understanding genetic and environmental susceptibility factors.
