Charles A. Powell, M.D.

Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine

Director, Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship

Clinical and Research Interests

Dr. Powell’s primary clinical and research interests are lung cancer and mesothelioma. Specific areas of clinical interest include:
* CT screening for the early detection of lung cancer
* Evaluation of pulmonary nodules
* Diagnostic fiberoptic bronchoscopy

* Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration
* Staging of lung cancer with PET imaging and bronchoscopy

* Biomarkers of Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Prognosis
* Chemoprevention of lung cancer

Dr. Powell’s research is directed to the to the identification of novel molecular biomarkers that will be useful for the early detection, prevention and treatment of lung carcinoma.
