The radiology and anatomy components would be totally separate without any attempt at integration. Students will spend 70% time in radiology. The other 30% time would be spent in anatomy.
On the first day of the elective, report to Dr. Agnelli-Dipple in Milstein 3rd floor, neuroradiology reading room.
In Radiology, this is an Introduction to the practice of adult diagnostic radiology. Students will have the opportunity to rotate through various subspecialty departments (abdomen, GI/GU, ultrasound, chest, neuroradiology, mammography, musculoskeletal, nuclear medicine, interventional and emergency room radiology). Attendance at the radiology 7:30 am and 12:30 daily conferences is requested, except on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. In addition, a dedicated medical student lecture series is organized to supplement reading room teaching. Special arrangements can be made for students to spend three weeks in adult imaging and one week in pediatric radiology. Feedback is given during medical student conferences and at the workstation. Evaluation is based on student attendance @ conferences, participation during the workday, and final examination/presentation.
In Anatomy, students will do some prosections, will assist in P&S first year anatomy lab, and may provide some anatomy tutoring. P&S First Year Clinical Anatomy occurs Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Students taking this elective must sit in on the 1:00-2:00 p.m. First Year P&S Anatomy lectures to be prepared for providing assistance in the lab that follows from 2:00- 5:00 p.m. Correlation clinics occur irregularly.
