Guidelines For P&S Student Applications For Outside Research Funding
P&S STUDENT APPLICATIONS FOR OUTSIDE FUNDING FOR RESEARCH GUIDELINES
Funding resources include but are not limited to:
- N.I.H.
- Arnold P. Gold Foundation
- Doris Duke Research Foundation
- Howard Hughes Medical Institute
- Alpha Omega Alpha

- New York Academy of Medicine
- Rosenbluth Fellowship
- Macy Scholarships

- All requests and applications for outside funding will be initiated by the student in the P&S Office of Student Affairs.
- All requests must be formally approved and cosigned by the Office of Student Affairs.
- All complete requests will be forwarded to the Office of Grants and Contracts which must approve the application.
- Applications for external research funding will be processed via the grants administrator for the research mentor's department and the Office of Grants and Contracts.
EXCEPTIONS:
- Applications for the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship Program, in this regard is considered internal funding and does not follow above. Applications should be made directly to the Doris Duke Program at P&S. While the Office of Research Administration administers this Program, the Office of Grants and Contracts is not involved.
- The Macy Program is considered an internal program and the application should be made via the Office of Student Affairs.
The Office of Grants and Contracts is not involved.
- Funding awarded to the student will be acknowledged to the granting source by the Office of Grants and Contracts.
- Maintenance of financial records for the funding source will be accomplished by the department of the research mentor.
- Students may simultaneously receive funding from more than one source if approved by the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Grants and Contracts.
- A standing committee will periodically review applications, status of ongoing grants and reporting mechanisms to the funding source.
This committee will include the Dean for Student Affairs, an officer from the Office of Grants and Contracts, and a P&S Faculty member familiar with the grants.
