The Division of Child Psychiatry is one of the largest divisions at PI, and includes a number of internationally prominent investigators in Child Psychiatry. Among the interests of the division are determinants and prevention of child and adolescent suicide, the assessment of psychiatric conditions in childhood (the DISC was developed here), efficacy of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, child services research and screening, neuropsychiatry, antisocial behavior, and epidemiology.

The division is home to a number of well-recognized investigators, including Hector Bird, Kimberly Hoagwood, Laurie Flynn, Madelyn Gould, Laurence Greenhill, Christina Hoven, Peter Jensen, Christopher Lucas, Bradley Peterson, Timothy Walsh, Bruce Waslick, Gail Wasserman, and Agnes Whitaker. Among a number of large NIH-supported activities, the division hosts a Child Interventions Research Center and a Research Unit on Pediatric Psychopharmacology and Psychosocial Interventions.
