Nephrology

The mission of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology is three-fold: 1) to provide compassionate, state-of-the-art care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases, 2) to be at the forefront of research and discoveries to advance our understanding of kidney disease and improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, and 3) to train physicians in the best practices in pediatric nephrology. The Division recently recruited two new faculty members experienced in the treatment of renal diseases from premiere Nephrology programs in the United States. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology provides comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions that affect newborns, infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Some of these conditions include:

  • Acute kidney injury
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • End stage renal disease
  • Fluid and electrolyte abnormalities
  • Glomerulonephritis
  • Hematuria and proteinuria
  • Hypertension
  • Kidney stones
  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • Urinary tract and kidney malformations

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology provides the following services:

  • Kidney biopsy
  • Peritoneal dialysis
  • Hemodialysis
  • Kidney transplantation
  • Continuous renal replacement therapy
The Division of Pediatric Nephrology is comprised of a dedicated interdisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, dietitians, and social workers fully committed to the principle of family-centered care. This includes the care of our patients and the support of their families through education and available resources.
