Dr. Oberfield, Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center, is Director of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, and is the Director of the Fellowship Training Program. She is Board certified in Pediatrics (1979), Pediatric Endocrinology (1981) and voluntary recertified in Pediatric Endocrinology (2000). Dr. Oberfield was a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Sub-Board of the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of its credentialing committee. She has served as a director of the LWPES and a member and chair of the LWPES Drug and Therapeutics Committee. She was Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and is a member of the Annual Planning Committee of the Endocrine Society. She has chaired international symposia on adrenal disorders at combined LWPES/ESPE meetings and was co-author on the International Consensus Statement on Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (2002). She has recently served on the NIH Special Emphasis Panel for Diabetic Research for Pediatric Endocrinologists and is a member of the NICHD Pediatric Sub-Committee. She is the site principal investigator for an NICHD Bone Mine Density in Childhood Study. She is a member of Columbia's Advisory Committee, General Clinical Research Center/Irving Center for Clinical Research reflecting her expertise in patient-oriented research. She is also a voting member of the Faculty Council of Columbia University.
