Dr. Steven Z. Miller, the Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York from 1993 until his tragic and untimely death in October 2004, was one of the key figures responsible for the development and tremendous success of this Emergency Department.
His passionate belief in the critical importance of incorporating humanism in medicine in the approach to each and every child and their caretaker's is the foundation upon which this division is built.
He provided the wisdom and insight necessary to make this emergency department one of the most uniquely compassionate places in the country.
His unwavering commitment to these ideals, to the children seeking care in our emergency department and to our staff, has provided our faculty and our institution with the tools and the strength to uphold and maintain his vision.
His spirit remains ever present.
