The Division of Allergy and Immunology is comprised of four attending physicians with a wide array of interests in this field. The division evaluates children and adults both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. We assess patients with conditions such as asthma, rhinitis, drug reactions, hives, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, semen allergies, chronic sinusitis, hereditary angioneurotic edema, anaphylaxis, insect allergies, and latex allergies. We also evaluate patients with primary immunodeficiencies and eosinophilic esophagitis.
We have created a food allergy center that evaluates all types of food allergic patients. Skin testing, Rast testing and patch testing are performed depending on the clinical presentation. When necessary, food challenges are performed to definitively determine if a patient is truly allergic or not.
Besides the testing just mentioned we also perform: intradermal testing for environmatal allergies pulmonary function testing for our asthmatics rhinoscopy for patients with chronic nasal symptoms.
The division is involved with research in the area of food allergies, specifically in the area of peanut and nut allergies. We are performing studies on asthma in the inner city. We have been involved in a clinical trial involving a potential revolutionary treatment for Hereditary Angioneurotic edema.
We have offices in New York City, Westchchester, Rockland County, Staten Island and the Bronx to improve the access to our physicians.
