Immunohistochemistry Laboratory

The Immunohistochemistry Laboratory at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center performs immunohistochemical stains and in situ hybridization for approximately 300 markers covering various purposes, including aiding the detection of infectious agents, identification and classification of neoplasms, determining the receptor profile of cancer cells and other abnormalities of cancer cell signaling representing targets for therapy, and classifying neurodegenerative disorders. It also supports a large number of local research projects that focus on cancer biology and neuropathology. The laboratory generates around 90,000 stains annually using fully automated staining techniques based on the Ventana Ultra and Leica Bond platforms.

The Immunohistochemistry Laboratory is CAP certified and successfully participates in all available CAP proficiency testing.
