MEASURING HAND FUNCTION: DEVELOPMENT OF AN OUTCOME MEASURE.

Project goal is to develop a task-oriented and patient-centered hand function outcome measure, known as the Manual Ability Measure (MAM).

DEVELOPMENT OF THE TAIWANESE MANUAL ABILITY MEASURE (T-MAM)

Project goals are to develop a culturally adapted item bank of the Manual Ability Measure for Taiwanese people and examine its psychometric properties (reliability and validity) in stroke patients with manual disability receiving rehabilitation.

INTERNATIONAL LEARNING AND SERVICE EXPERIENCE IN NICARAGUA

A service learning experience to promote rehabilitative efforts in Caribbean Nations.  This specific experience focuses on Nicaragua and cross cultural training.

MODEL APARTMENT PROGRAM FOR HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS
Investigators, Emily Raphael MS., OTR, and Janet Falk-Kessler, Ed.D., OTR, FAOTA
The goals of this program are to enhance clients’ ability to compete for housing, increasing overall placements and reducing each clients’ length of stay in a shelter; and to demonstrate the long-term efficacy of occupational therapy as a “housing readiness” strategy to enhance the ability of the homeless mentally ill to obtain housing.

ENHANCED FIELDWORK EXPERIENCE IN WORKING WITH OLDER ADULTS

FACILITATING CHANGE TO PROMOTE HEALTH IN OLDER ADULTS: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY EDUCATION PROGRAM

The project is developing and implementing an interdisciplinary curriculum, based on the Trans-theoretical Model of Change, designed to promote health and function in older adults, while providing medical residents and occupational therapy students with the skills to apply this model.
