POSNA 2006 Traveling Fellowship Recipient. One of three pediatric orthopedic surgeons chosen to represent the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America during 3 weeks of visitations to centers of pediatric orthopedics in Europe.

Robert N. Hensinger 2005 Clinical Scientific Paper Award. For presenting the Outstanding Clinical Paper Presented at the 2005 Annual Meeting POSNA entitled “Volume of Scoliosis Surgery Among Surgeons with Spine versus Pediatric Fellowship Training in the States of New York and California”.

Supported six months of work in the Biochemistry Section of the Orthopedic Research Laboratory at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center working under Anthony Ratcliffe, Ph.D. and Van C. Mow, Ph.D. Responsibilities included cartilage harvest and culture, refinement of in vitro system of mechanical loading, RNA and DNA isolation, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction.

Thomas J. Watson Traveling Fellowship:
A national scholarship, which supported one year of independent research.
Research focussed on an exploration of the cultural context of health care in England, Italy, and Japan.
