As a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Gyamfi offers her expertise in the area of complications of pregnancy. These include preterm labor, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes. She also focuses on prenatal diagnosis, with an interest in ultrasound and procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS. She has a special interest in the management of pregnant Jehovah's Witnesses.

One of her focuses at Columbia University is clinical research. She is an integral part of Columbia's team of investigators for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit of the National Institutes of Health. Her clinical research is focused on preterm birth and thyroid disease. She has published in numerous peer reviewed journals, and has been an invited speaker at numerous institutions.
