| Overview The Division of Family Planning and Preventive Services is a key component of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Columbia University Medical Center. Over half of pregnancies nationwide are unplanned, and only by improving preventive care can we as a nation begin to attack this urgent problem. Our Division provides the full range of family planning services to our diverse patient population in a nonjudgmental, caring and supportive environment. We provide education, access to contraception and counseling to prevent unplanned pregnancies. We also work in conjunction with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine division in the management of pregnancies with diagnosed fetal anomalies or second-trimester pregnancy complications. In addition to patient care, medical student and resident education and clinical research are integral components of Division activity. |
