Anesthesia and Pain Relief for Childbirth
The Division of Obstetric Anesthesia is responsible for anesthesia pain management coverage of Carmen and John Thain Labor and Delivery Unit on the main campus at 168th Street, and at the Allen Pavilion. In addition, we provide a high-risk consultation service, and a patient education program. There are approximately 3800 deliveries per year at the main campus and about 2500 at the Allen Pavilion.
Faculty from the Division of Obstetric Anesthesia provide coverage of the main campus Labor and Delivery Suite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Multiple Birth Center
Multiple Birth CenterAll parents know that with pregnancy and the birth of a child, life patterns change forever. Imagine the birth of two…or three…or four at one time! Parents with multiple gestations have special needs both during pregnancy and after. Sloane has experienced a 30% growth in the number of multiples in the last year - much of it due to increased success and usage of assisted fertility. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology understands parents' need for extra help and has opened the Multiple Birth Center.
