Dr. John C. Evanko is the Division Chief for General Obstetrics & Gynecology and Gynecologic Surgical Services and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr. Evanko graduated from Princeton University and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He recently earned his MBA degree from Columbia Business School. Following his residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University, Dr. Evanko partnered with one of the pioneers in minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Harry Reich. Dr. Evanko was Chief of OB/GYN at the Allen Pavilion from 2003 to 2006 and oversees the outpatient clinics for the department.

Dr. Evanko has continually been recognized by peers and students for his excellence in teaching. He has had extensive training in pelvic reconstruction, urogynecologic and minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopy and DaVinci robotic surgery. He leads the robotic initiative at Columbia and routinely performs robotic myomectomies, hysterectomies and other advanced procedures. His approach is conservative and patient focused; he often performs partial hysterectomies, sparing normal anatomy. He has helped to develop single port laparoscopic surgery and has partnered with other academic centers to foster this initiative. He has performed several laparo-endoscopic single site surgeries (LESS surgery) and natural orifice surgeries. His practice also concentrates on abnormal pap smear and treatment for cervical dysplasia.

Dr. Jody S. Blanco is the Director of Urogynecology at Columbia University Medical Center and an Assistant Clinical Professor of OB/GYN at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Blanco earned his medical degree at the State University of New York-Upstate Medical Center. Following internship and residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia Campus, he served a fellowship in gynecologic urology and pelvic surgery at the University of California at Irvine, and a fellowship in advanced pelvic surgery, urodynamics, and gynecologic laser surgery at Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach, California. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Blanco has published several articles on treatment of urogynecologic disorders and PAP screening. He has received Sloane Hospital's Howard C. Taylor Award of Excellence in Teaching and National Faculty Teaching Award.

Dr. Blanco specializes in pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic reconstructive surgery and fibroids. He focuses on abnormal pap/colposcopy and LEEP as well as hormone replacement therapy and oral contraceptive management.

 

Elisabeth Visser Elisabeth Visser, NP

Elisabeth Visser is a Nurse Practitioner at Columbia University Medical Center. She is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing at Columbia University, where she mentors nurse practitioner students. She earned her master's degree in nursing from the Columbia University School of Nursing. She has fifteen years of experience as a nurse practitioner in women's health. For the past eight years, Ms. Visser has managed the Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program (treating bladder dysfunctions) at Columbia University Medical Center.

Ms. Visser has experience with and interest in the following areas: general women's health, birth control and menopause. Ms. Visser also has expertise in monitoring abnormal pap smears and performing colposcopies. She has given lectures on women's health for various schools and organizations. Ms. Visser is fluent in Dutch and proficient in German, French and Hebrew. In 2006, Ms. Visser received the Nurse Practitioner Excellent Award from the North American Menopause Society.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, Dr. Linda L. Fan attended Columbia University, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, for medical school followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She continues on at her alma mater and has held the academic position of Assistant Clinical Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2006.

Dr. Fan has had specialized training in pelvic reconstruction, incontinence procedures, urodynamics, and advanced laparoscopic procedures. In her practice, she provides care for a broad spectrum of patients, ranging from those requiring routine care to those with specific gynecologic disorders including: fibroids, abnormal pap smear, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, and pelvic organ prolapse.

Dr. Berger-Chen received her medical degree from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii and completed her residency with the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. She joined the Columbia University Faculty in 2006 and is an Assistant Clinical Professor. She enjoys taking an active role in resident and medical student mentoring and teaching.

Dr. Berger-Chen's special clinical interests include pediatric and adolescent gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, surgical alternatives and chronic pelvic pain. She enjoys caring for women at all stages of life and welcomes patients of all ages and sexual orientation to her practice.

Dr. Berger-Chen was board certified in 2007. She is a member of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and The North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.

Jin Hee (Jeannie) Kim, MD

Dr. Jin Hee (Jeannie) Kim is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons in the Division of Gynecologic Surgical Services. Dr. Kim graduated from Yale University and earned her medical degree from New York University. Following her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University, she completed an AAGL-accredited fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Chronic Pelvic Pain at the University of Michigan, also earning her Masters in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis. The fellowship provided Dr. Kim with specialized training and expertise in the field of advanced laparoscopy and robotics. Dr. Kim favors a minimally invasive approach to the care of her patients, understanding that this approach leads to faster recovery, less pain, shorter length of hospital stay, improved cosmesis, and greater patient satisfaction.

In addition to providing routine gynecologic care, Dr Kim specializes in gynecologic endoscopy, including robotic surgery, advanced laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and in the treatment of women with chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding and vulvar pain.

Dr. Kim regularly presents at national and international conferences, and led the establishment of a laparoscopic training program in Ghana.

Timothy Ryntz Timothy Ryntz, MD

Dr. Timothy Ryntz, a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2005. He has received awards and honors from his peers for excellence in teaching and research.

Dr. Ryntz held academic appointment at Harvard University where he worked on techniques to improve the diagnosis and treatment of common gynecologic problems in the office. Dr. Ryntz is continuing this work at Columbia University Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His clinical interests include advanced hysteroscopy, family planning, transgendered health care, and the management of abnormal uterine bleeding.
