| Heidi Jones, MPH
Heidi is a doctoral candidate in the department of epidemiology as well as a researcher in the Division of Family Planning & Preventive Services. Currently her research focuses on improving prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, including HPV, and prevention of cervical cancer. She is a co-investigator on a study assessing whether a self-sampling device can be used to obtain cytology specimens. Prior to joining the Division, she was a researcher at the Population Council and the Guttmacher Institute. During her time at the Population Council, she worked extensively in Burkina Faso, South Africa, and Brazil. She speaks French, and is in the process of learning Spanish and Portuguese.
Irene Raju, LPN
Irene has been a Women's Health nurse for 18 years and a Division of Family Planning Research Coordinator for 2 years. She previously worked within the Columbia-Presbyterian network at the Allen Pavilion as a Labor and Delivery nurse from 1993-1996, and at the Family Planning Clinic as a LPN/Nurse Manager from 1996-2007. She is presently involved in several research studies such as the Bayer Folate Study, the Bayer LCS/MiniMirena IUD Study, the Panterhei Cytology Study and the upcoming Bayer Patch Study.
Claudia Roca, MPH
Claudia has 5 years of research experience. She is currently working on Six-Pack an Oral Contraception Continuation Study as a research coordinator.
Anupama Torgal, BA, CCRC
Anu has been working with the Division of Family Planning for 2 1/2 years and has 9 years of research experience. She is primarily working on clinical trials investigating ovarian suppression in obese and normal weight women on hormonal contraceptives and anticipates graduating from the Mailman School of Public Health in February 2010.
Graduate students from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health assist the faculty in the development, completion, and analysis of research studies.
