8. NIH Announcements
- NOT-OD-07-001:
Change in Standing Receipt Dates for NIH/AHRQ/NIOSH Beginning in January
2007. The new dates represent a substantial change, with due dates being
spread across each month and different dates for different mechanisms. Click

- NOT-NR-07-001:
Notice of Expansion of NINR Definition of Underrepresented Applicant – Males
are now officially included as an “Underrepresented Applicant” by
the NINR
- NOT-NR-07-002:
NINR is now restricting the use of the R03 mechanism to new investigators
ONLY.
- NOT-OD-07-051:
Effective January 1, 2007 , the NIH Salary Cap increased to $186,600.
- NOT-OD-06-090:
There is a new NIH policy for funding of tuition, fees, and Health Insurance
on both individual and institutional NRSAs. Of note, NIH is reducing the
amount of support for trainees. They will no longer cover 100% of the first
$3,000, but simply 60% of the total level requested by the applicant institution.
But, Institutional Allowance and Training Related Expenses have increased
(from $2,750 to $4,200).
- An NIH “Extramural
Financial Operations Website” has been launched containing historical
and future NIH budget information. The site has a link to an informative
NIH document, “ Percentile
Ranking vs. Percent Success Rate: What is the difference? - Comparison
of Success Rates to Percentile Paylines.”
Change in R03 and R21 Resubmissions:
“With the transition to electronic submission, R03 and R21 resubmissions
are limited to a 1-page “Introduction to the Revised Application” (previously
a 3-page limitation was set). You will receive a grants.gov error if Intro is
over 1 page.”
