Admission to the Master's Program

The Master's Program is designed to prepare baccalaureate nurses for advanced practice. An MS degree is awarded upon completion of this program.

Faculty review applications on a rolling admission basis so that students may apply to begin this program in the summer or for full-time study or fall for part-time study. It is advised to submit the application and all supplemental materials two months prior to the desired term. The Anesthesia MS Program is a full-time program and begins only in the summer semester.

Admission Requirements:

Requirements vary for master's programs, please check individual academic programs for specific criteria.

  • Current New York State nursing license or eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited program (*RN's with an associate degree and a non-nursing baccalaureate degree are required to complete 5 credits in community health in addition to the course requirement listed).
  • Minimum of one year experience in nursing preferred
  • Satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
  • An undergraduate course in statistics
  • A physical assessment course
  • The Nurse Anesthesia program requires two semesters of chemistry (at least one organic course) and one semester of physics
  • Three references attesting to applicant's academic ability and potential
  • Personal goal statement that is congruent with program goals (two pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font)
  • Resume or CV
