Arlene M Smaldone, DNSc, CPNP-PC, CDE

Research Summary
Dr. Smaldone's program of research focuses on children with diabetes and other chronic health conditions and factors associated with poor health outcomes.

Dr. Smaldone is a practicing pediatric nurse practitioner. Her recent interests have been in health policy issues and diabetes care. In 2003 she received a doctoral degree from the Columbia University School of Nursing. Her research examined risk factors for recurrent ketoacidosis in children with diabetes with particular attention to the role of pediatric endocrine specialists on incidence of ketoacidosis.
