
NS 1 - Intern
Three months of general surgery basic skills including surgical ICU, six months of neurosurgery, three months of clinical neurology including Neuro ICU.
NS 2 - Junior Elective
Fully protected basic science research. Residents may work in neurosurgery laboratories or develop collaborations in Columbia laboratories outside of the department. No call or clinical obligations. Wood’s Hole Basic Neuroscience Course
RUNN Course
Neurosurgery Research Laboratories
NS 3 – Junior
Clinical neurosurgery service, junior resident level. Includes endovascular rotation. Residents are encouraged to pass ABNS Primary Exam for credit by this year.

NS 4 – Senior Elective
Research year – may be spent in research laboratories, public health or in clinical research. Senior level clinical responsibilities limited to night call.
