DR. ARNOLD P. GOLD RECEIVES 2010 PICKER AWARD
I am pleased to announce that the Picker Institute has selected Dr. Arnold P. Gold, Professor of Clinical Neurology and Clinical Pediatrics, as one of the recipients of the 2010 Picker Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Patient-Centered Care. Dr. Gold and the other two awardees, Dr. Atul Gawande of Harvard University and the Brigham & Women's Hospital, and Dr. Paul D. Cleary, Dean of the School of Public Health at Yale University, will be honored on Wednesday, Dec. 8th, at the 22nd National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Gold and his wife, Sandra Gold, co-founded the Arnold P. Gold Foundation in 1988. The Gold Foundation's mission is to preserve the tradition of the caring doctor and advance humanism in medicine through physician education. Students at more than 90% of the medical schools in the US participate in one or more of the Foundation's nearly two dozen programs. The Picker Awards were established in 2003 as an educational component of the Institute's mission to advance patient-centered care.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Gold on this latest honor.
