P&S DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
Linda Lewis, MD, clinical professor emeritus and special lecturer in neurology, was honored with a P&S Distinguished Service Award—the College's highest honor—at commencement this May, in recognition of her extraordinary clinical expertise and 26 years (and counting!) of dedication and service as dean of student affairs.

Dr. Hiroshi Mitsumoto has received research funding from the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation, Inc. for his project, "Biochemical and Molecular Characteristics of Primary lateral Sclerosis."

Dr. Sheng-Han Kuo
2013 LOUIS V. GERSTNER JR. SCHOLAR
Dr. Sheng-Han Kuo has been appointed to a three year term as a 2013 Louis V. Gerstner Jr. Scholar. Each year, the competitive Gerstner Scholars Program at P&S supports four young physician-scientists who conduct translational research designed to bring new treatments to patients.
Dr. Linus Sun
NATIONAL EYE INSTITUTE
Postdoctoral Research Scientist Linus Sun, PhD, MD received a K08 award from the National Eye Institute for his project, "Role of Oculomotor Proprioception in Spatial Processing by the Parietal Cortex." This is a continuation of the research project that Linus began in 2011, under the mentorship of Dr. Goldberg, as the first recipient of Neurology's R25 Resident Research Training Grant (Mitch Elkind, PI).

Under the leadership of Claire Riley, our Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Care & Research Center has been unanimously elected a Partner in MS Care by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS).

Dr. Stephan A. Mayer Dr. J. Michael Schmidt
Stephan Mayer and J. Michael Schmidt have received a $300,000 grant from the Dana Foundation for their project titled, "Real-Time Physiological Visualization of the Comatose Human Brain." This project will support their efforts to create the next generation of bedside ICU data acquisition systems for brain multimodality monitoring. With this grant, Drs. Mayer and Schmidt have received eight years of continuous funding from Dana, a foundation devoted to supporting innovative brain research.
Drs. Michio Hirano and Eric Schon received funding from The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation in support of their mitochondrial disease research. Dr. Hirano has received $140,000 toward the development of the North American Mitochondrial Disease Consortium Patient Registry. Dr. Schon has received $300,000 to support his research, including a clinical trial for patients with mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)-related disorders.
