SALARY AND BENEFITS



The 2012-2013 house staff salary scale is as follows:

Resident Level 1 (PGY-2) - $57,190
Resident Level 2 (PGY-3) - $60,533
Resident Level 3 (PGY-4) - $62,400

Each resident receives an academic allowance which can be used towards the purchase of textbooks, journal subscriptions and electronic resources. The travel allowance can be used to defray the cost of courses and meetings.

All residents receive membership to the American Academy of Neurology, a benefit that includes a subscription to the journal Neurology. In addition, there are many sponsored off-site conferences and courses for which Columbia Neurology Residents are nominated and receive additional stipends to attend. All PGY-4 residents attend the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology.

columbia university lionResidents also receive an annual housing stipend of $3,000.00, dispersed in two payments of $1,500.00, usually in August and March. This benefit is based on payroll status, and does not require an application. More information on campus housing may be found at Columbia Housing website. Columbia neurology residents are eligible for Weill Cornell campus housing at York Avenue and 70th Street and can commute to Columbia University Medical Center by the Columbia-Cornell shuttle bus.

Residents may apply for campus parking in the Medical Center's main parking facility, South Property Garage, located at 165th Street and Fort Washington Avenue. The facility is operated by Central Parking Systems and is open 24/7. Central Parking personnel are always on duty, should assistance be required, and the garage office is open
Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM. Availability is limited. For more

Columbia provides regularly scheduled shuttle bus service between the Morningside and Medical Center campuses. There is no charge for the shuttle, which generally runs from 6:30AM to 12:10AM.
