PEDIATRIC NEUROLOGY RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Claudia Chiriboga, MD, MPH
Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology and Pediatrics
Interim Director, Division of Pediatric Neurology and Pediatric Neurology Training Program
Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Neurology training program at the Neurological Institute of New York and the Children's Hospital of New York at Columbia University Medical Center. The program at Columbia was the first to be established with the support of an NIH training grant, and has produced a distinguished cohort of graduates, many of whom have risen to lead child neurology programs throughout the United States and overseas. The program emphasizes a strong grounding in clinical neurology and neuroscience, with outstanding opportunities to participate in clinical and bench research. The division draws on the strengths of the adult services at the Neurological Institute, and the comprehensive facilities in the newly opened Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian.
Advances in genetics and other neurosciences have highlighted the complexity and challenges of the developing human nervous system, and emphasize the exciting opportunities for progress in the discipline of child neurology in the 21st century. There has never been a better time to begin training in this fascinating and rewarding specialty.
