CLINICAL FACILITIES

Milstein Hospital

The main in-patient clinical center on campus is the Milstein Hospital. In keeping with the overall success of the larger New York–Presbyterian Hospital Center, the services at Milstein are consistently top-rated, with Neurology and Neurosurgery ranking 4th in the nation this year. At Milstein, residents are exposed to a large, extraordinarily rich variety of patients from around the world. Neurology and Neurosurgery share 76 beds on the 8th floor, as well as 18 beds in a separate, dedicated Neurological Intensive Care Unit (NICU), equipped with on-site 3T MRI, CT scan, advanced electro-physiological monitoring, and other state-of-the-art equipment and capabilities. In addition, there is a Neurovascular Unit, and a separate video-EEG Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, also on the 8th floor. This creates, in effect, a "neurological hospital within a hospital", and provides residents with an exciting and incredibly stimulating environment in which to observe, participate, and ultimately lead cutting-edge diagnostic evaluation and treatment of both common and rare neurological disorders.

Vanderbilt Clinic

The Vanderbilt Clinic has been the Medical Center's out-patient clinic for more than 80 years. The residents' continuity clinic takes place here, and certain subspecialty clinics are also housed in this building. At Vanderbilt, residents see a challenging variety of neurological complaints from the largely underserved populations of northern Manhattan's urban communities. Fascinating, often advanced neurological manifestations are frequently observed at Vanderbilt, providing residents with exceptional opportunities for invaluable clinical training.
