Assistant Professor of Medicine at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center
Dr. Siegel received her B.A. degree from Brown University. She graduated A.O.A. from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and received her Internal Medicine training at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center. She completed fellowship training in hematology and oncology at the Dana Farber Cancer Center and at New York Presbyterian Weil-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Siegel cares for patients with gastrointestinal cancers, with an emphasis on liver, biliary, and colon cancers. She is involved in studies looking at new biologic agents for liver cancers, and novel treatment strategies, such as liver transplantation, for cholangiocarcinomas. She also conducts research in treatment outcomes for liver cancers, and teaches on the solid tumor service. Dr. Siegel is involved in clinical and translational work in hepatobiliary malignancies. She has two main areas of interest. The first is in the evaluation of targeted therapies in hepatobiliary malignancies. She was the overall Principal Investigator of the National Cancer Institute's Phase II Consortium Trial of bevacizumab in HCC, which was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology last year. She has opened the first adjuvant trial of sorafenib in high-risk HCC patients after transplant in the country. She is developing a novel protocol with the Mayo Clinic to enhance liver transplantation for those with cholangiocarcinomas. Her other area of interest is in health outcomes in HCC, and has published broadly in this field. She is currently completing an NCI-sponsored K12 Career Development Award evaluating novel biomarkers which relate to HCC outcome.
