About The Institute

Our goal at the Institute of Human Nutrition is "to train individuals for scholarly activities and for positions in universities and research centers that are in the forefront of the movement to advance nutrition as a health science".  In order to be effective in reaching this goal, the Institute organizes and conducts leading-edge nutrition research and education activities throughout Columbia University and its affiliated institutions.  These activities include basic research, clinical research, public health-preventive medicine programs, and education and training at many levels. The Institute offers Master's and Doctoral degree programs.  The excellent quality of these programs has brought about growth and expansion.  The numbers of students and the ranks of the faculty have grown substantially in recent years. Simultaneously, there has been a strengthening of the scientific quality of the Institute's work, which today is second to none
