The AIDS program was established in 1988 to provide inpatient and outpatient HIV care and conduct teaching and research programs. Currently, the program operates a 28-bed inpatient unit and provides multidisciplinary care for over 1,000 ambulatory patients living with HIV/AIDS. Services are provided in English and Spanish with an emphasis on comprehensive medical and psychosocial care as well as patient education, adherence promotion, and family-centered interventions. Educational efforts include the training of third- and fourth-year medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as advanced training.
