Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program

The Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center provides a comprehensive training experience in the clinical and investigative aspects of infectious diseases. There are three positions available for each of the two years of fellowship; an optional third year is granted to fellows who become productively involved in a funded clinical- or laboratory-based research project. The program objectives are to provide fellows with the following:

  • Clinical proficiency in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of infectious diseases
  • Broad experience with these diseases in both hospital and outpatient settings
  • An understanding of the approaches and tools of modern clinical and basic research
  • Exposure to a substantive program of clinical or basic investigation conducted in the Division of Infectious Diseases, affiliated departments in the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, or the affiliated Mailman School of Public Health

Our graduating fellows have gone on to careers in academia, government service, industry, and clinical care and have obtained positions at some of the most highly respected centers in the country.
