The Department welcomes undergraduates who are interested in conducting research in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. In almost every laboratory within the Department, undergraduates have made important contributions to research projects, often becoming authors on scientific publications. Undergraduates are urged to read the research description of faculty members and, where possible, visit their websites. If interested in a specific research group, students should then contact professors directly and inquire about the availability of positions in their laboratory. Columbia students can conduct research through the SURF Program (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship), and they can participate in projects during the school year.
