Gene Regulation and Signal Transduction



Richard Axel's lab is characterizing how individual olfactory neurons choose to express only one among thousands of odorant receptor genes. Steve Goff is exploring the molecular behavior of viral oncogenes and their role in signal transduction.  Alla Grishok's lab studies short RNAs to regulation of gene expression through chromatin; epigenetic phenomena in C. elegans.  Richard Mann’s lab studies post-transcriptional mechanisms that control activity and specificity of homeodomain-containing transcription factors. Max Gottesman's lab studies the control of transcription termination in bacteriophage by RNA binding proteins as well as the control of gene expression in thyroid cells.
