Requirements for Admission

Prerequisites include one year each of

• General chemistry
• Organic chemistry
• Physics
• Biology
• Calculus

Additional courses in biology, particularly cell biology, genetics and biochemistry are expected. The department also requests:

• three letters of recommendation
• an essay prepared by the student

The Graduate Record Exams is required. The Advanced Test in Biology, Chemistry, or a related topic is strongly recommended. Foreign students whose first language is not English must take the TOEFL examination. If practical, the department arranges a personal interview.
