    Services: Harlem Interfaith Counsel Service (HICS) is a not-for-profit community-based outpatient treatment and services agency. The facility offers diverse and culturally sensitive services. Through the use of a non-traditional psychospiritual approach model, HICS helps patients respond creatively to the challenges of learning, behavioral, emotional, social and mental disorders.

    Services: The Fort Washington Men’s Shelter is a 200-bed facility with three psychiatric treatment programs on site. All these programs offer psychiatric and nursing care, clinical case management, group and individual counseling, recreational activities, entitlements advocacy, vocational services and housing referrals. Every resident is expected to visit a psychiatrist while at Fort Washington. Each program has its own team of psychiatrists and case managers. Case managers work along side clients to help them achieve therapeutic goals. They are responsible for linking clients to needed services. The recreation department offers a broad array of activities such as movie screenings, leisure trips, games, sports, music, arts and crafts. There is a primary care medical clinic that provides basic health services including physical exams, medical evaluations, TB tests, treatment services and referrals. The clinic also conducts health education groups. A clean and sober dorm is offered to clients who actively maintain their sobriety. The sobriety must be documented by urine tests. Residents of this dorm are eligible for various privileges. A stipend program is available for clean and sober residents who also pursue their individualized treatment goals. All participants usually obtain small jobs in the facility and are required to attend a weekly vocational support group. Other on-site services include a kitchen that serves three meals daily, gym, two recreation rooms with a big screen TV, barber shop, and laundromat.

    Services: The Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center optimizes the ideal of community services and the importance of mental health to the residents within the community it serves. Comprehensive services are provided to families, individuals, the elderly, youth and children in a caring environment by staff who are dedicated to the mission of the Center and to the community. The aim of the Center is to provide broad-based mental health services that enable clients to gain independence, build self-esteem and function productively within their community. Along with mental health treatment, the Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center offers help in preparing for a career and learning the skills necessary to feel comfortable in day to day living. The Intake/Crisis/Emergency Unit is a walk-in unit that provides people of all ages with psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, counseling as well as referral services within the Center or to other resources. Through the Pantry Program, emergency food relief is available for community residents who are experiencing temporary financial difficulties and are in need of food. The Adult Clinic offers individual, family, and group counseling services to individuals from 18 to 60 years old who are suffering from emotional or psychological problems. The Adult Continuing Day Treatment Program offers clinical and case management services to severely and persistently mentally ill adults, some of whom also have substance abuse problems. With emotional support and rehabilitation services, men and women from ages 18 to 60 learn the skills of daily living needed to maintain housing, travel safely and participate in community life. The Elderly Clinic is dedicated to evaluating and treating depression. The aim of the Clinic is to improve emotional well-being and support independent living as clients successfully adjust to aging. Psychological Clubhouse is an outpatient program that helps chronically mentally ill individuals develop independent living skills and rewarding social relationships as they participate in recreational and cultural events.

    Services: University Settlement's Children’s Intensive Case Management Program is designed to improve care and support services for children and adolescents who demonstrate complex mental health needs and are at risk of psychiatric hospitalization or residential placement. Case Managers train parents in the use of behavior modification, provide education about childhood mental illness, and advocate for families and children through extensive contact with social service agencies, schools and community service providers.
