Program of Study: The Choir Academy of Harlem is a collaboration of the Boys
Choir of Harlem, Inc., the New York City Board of Education and the parents
of the school’s students. Encompassing grades 4 through 12, the school
offers rigorous academic programs enhanced by a worldclass training in the
choral arts. The Academy was founded in the choir model and offers the students
a solid education in an intimate environment. Admission to the academy is gained
by passing a vocal audition. The school is particularly proud of the personal
attention that it is able to give to each of the young people in their care.

Program of Study: The Eleanor Roosevelt Intermediate School is dedicated to
providing youngsters with social skills and a curriculum that prepares them
to enter the global economy in the 21st century. The school is continuing to
build upon exemplary middle school practices already in place: teaming, conflict
resolution, service learning and a special education inclusion project school wide.

Program of Study: I.S. 52 has been designated a 21st Century School by the State Education Department.
The School Leadership Team, comprised of the principal, elected faculty members, and parents, is the
school’s decision making body. The educational program is aligned with the new standards of New
York State, and is centered on the knowledge, skills, and abilities that students must have in order to
succeed. Classroom instruction in all subject areas is carefully interrelated and features dual language
methodology and state-of-the-art computer technology.

for newly arrived English Language Learners, and Special Education

Program of Study: Roberto Clemente School is divided into subschools, each with a team of teachers
who plan the year’s activities and a supervisor. Each subschool has at least one collaboration
or partnership with an outside agency or corporation. School wide, I.S. 195 has collaborations with
Graham-Windham (BEACON CENTER), and extended existing associations with Time Warner, Inc., Manhattan
Institute-Center for Educational Innovation, Junior Achievement, the Foundation for Excellent
Schools, and Harlem Center for Education.

Program of Study: I.S. 218 is a full service educational institution operating in
collaboration with The Children’s Aid Society. The school embraces the middle
school philosophy, thus advocating the creation of small learning communities, advisory
programs, portfolio assessment, interest-based courses, a rigorous core curriculum,
cooperative learning, team learning, multi-sensory methodology and team meeting for
effective teacher planning. Students of all cultural, educational and linguistic backgrounds
are expected to meet all standards in an effort to develop the academic and human potential.
Special Academic Programs: Specialized Business Studies Classes, Community Service Projects, Gifted
and Talented Classes in Dance, Art and Music, Advanced Regents Math Class, Computer Instruction, and
