Ages Served: 2 months to 5 years

Services: The Nursery Infant Toddler Day Care Center, Inc. was created to cater exclusively to infants and toddlers and their special needs. Infants and toddlers need more nurturing and one-to-one care than older children. Holding and loving are very important for babies. Equally important is allowing the child the opportunity to explore his environment with the security of qualified adults nearby. The Nursery has four classrooms. The infant room houses eight babies. The Minis are 12 to 24 months in a group of five children. The Toddlers, 2 year olds, are in a group of up to ten children. The Preschoolers, 3 and 4 year olds are in a group, not to exceed seventeen children. Because developmental stages are so varied at this point in life, the children move to the next room based on their development, not on their age. Routine is necessary in a group setting, but young children need flexibility in their day. In the infant room, the Nursery accommodates each individual child's schedule. In the toddler room, there's a lot of emphasis on activities for daily living. The Center offers semi-structured hands on activities throughout the day. The children are also offered a great deal of freedom. Because they learn so much at this stage of life, everything they do enhances their development. Preschoolers are offered a variety of activities. They receive simple academic lessons in preparation for kindergarten. This includes learning numbers and letters. The Center also offers music, dance, art, outdoor, and free play. In each classroom, social and verbal skills are developed throughout the day as the children are involved in different activities.
