    Columbia Advanced Practice Nurse Associates offer a new choice in primary care that provides comprehensive, high quality, primary health care with individualized health education, health promotion, and disease prevention services. CAPNA offers care 24 hours a day and has admitting privileges at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

    The Center for Health Policy offers doctoral students taking the Health Policy Practicum the opportunity to work with various community agencies for two to three days per week over the course of a semester. The projects undertaken are policy-relevant and work to date has included a review of best practices by area hospitals in assuring access to care for minority and underserved populations and an analysis of approaches to improve immunization of two year olds.

    The Family Practice Clinic offers family centered primary care provided by family nurse practitioners teamed with family physicians. The clinic provides full scope primary care with disease prevention and health promotion, management of common illnesses and chronic disease for the whole family.

    The Home Care Monitoring of HIV Exposed Children offers workshops for the Visiting Nurse Service of New York in the Bronx including a study that highlights the needs of HIV exposed children who do not become infected and the difficulty accessing resources once children are no longer in this high-risk category.

    The Home Hygiene Study offers approximately 240 households in Washington Heights and the Bronx free cleaning and personal hygiene products for one year, half containing antibacterials and the other half not. Outcomes studied in the research project are infectious disease transmission and development of antiseptic resistance in the skin flora.

    At Pediatrics 2000, the School of Nursing faculty and advanced practice pediatric students provide children with a full scope of pediatric care, which includes physical exams, developmental screenings and immunizations, parenting support and advice, management of common illnesses and episodic chronic disease. The practice represents the largest and most active nonhospital based clinic in Upper Manhattan, seeing between 80-120 patients per day.
