The Adult Parent Education Program is an 18-week course designed for parents, guardians, and other adults who live in Washington Heights. The course offers students the opportunity to study the concept of Family Health and Holistic Sexuality as an integral model that includes the interrelation of four factors: social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual as the basis for interpretation of the concept of health in the community. The curriculum is designed to help participants throughout all the sessions: develop an understanding that their sexuality is holistic and not simply expressed through genital sexual acts; develop sexual literacy so that their knowledge base reflects accurate information, and true understanding of the reality and implications of their attitudes and behaviors; and develop the foundation necessary to communicate with persons of the same and other sex throughout their cycle on appropriate sexuality issues.
