The application deadline has past

 

three ways to apply

WITH FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM YOUR DEPARTMENT OR DIVISION 
Applicants whose tuition and fees ($13,260 + $1210*) will be paid by their supervisor may submit the “short form” application, consisting of:
  • The application form, available here
  • Curriculum vitae
  • A personal statement of no more than 500 words, describing your research interests, career goals, and reasons for applying to the program
  • Two letters of reference from individuals who can comment knowledgeably on your research potential; one must come from your department chair or division chief, and must indicate that your department/division will assume financial costs for your participation in the program. Assurance that the candidate will be given time off (no clinical or work duties) for the duration of the program must also be included.

 

SELF-SUPPORTED
Applicants who assume responsibility for their own tuition and fees must submit a standard application, consisting of:

  • The official application form, found here
    (IMPORTANT: Under the section “Application Data” in the Application for Admission, please select “Special (Nondegree)” for the Degree field and “SPL BIOSTATISTICS” for the Primary Program of Interest field. Select "May/July 2012" for Term and "Part Time" for Time Status.)  See a screen shot here.
  • Non-refundable application fee of $60
  • Transcripts from all previous undergraduate and graduate training programs
  • Curriculum vitae
  • A personal statement of no more than 500 words, describing your research interests, career goals, and reasons for applying to the program
  • Two letters of reference; one must be from the candidate’s department chair or immediate supervisor, assuring that the candidate will be given time off (no clinical or work duties) for the duration of the program.

 

THROUGH A CER OPPORTUNITY
Recognizing the urgent and compelling need to promote diversity, the PRIDE award (FIRST in CER) will provide rigorous training and mentoring opportunities to diverse junior faculty members and equip them with the essential skills needed to conduct comparative effectiveness research and analyze some of the most complex health problems in the nation. Components of this 14-month program include: didactic training through the Columbia Summer Research Institute, mentoring experience, grant writing support and CER seminars.
