ICA Compliance Training

Welcome to the Medical Center's Mandatory Annual Compliance Training Session for 2007

We are under an Institutional Compliance Agreement ("ICA") with the Federal government since December 2002. The ICA imposes a number of training and audit obligations upon us.

We are also governed by the Columbia University Billing Compliance Plan, which has been in place since 1996 and has been amended from time to time. The current version is available under the STANDARDS heading on the home page for the Office for Billing Compliance, along with the new 2006 Billing Compliance Manual, which sets forth important compliance principles and current University practice. In addition, a link to the Medical Center’s Faculty Practice Revenue Management policies has been posted under LINKS.

Annual Billing Compliance Training is an essential obligation under our Compliance Plan and the ICA. This on-line training is one of  3 modules the Office for Billing Compliance has developed for the CU community to choose from: live sessions, audio CD or on-line training. Every physician, non-physician practitioner or staff member who is involved in the generation or submission of medical claims, as well as in any aspects of revenue management, needs to be trained.

that will be provided to complete this requirement

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • You must complete both the General and Specialty Specific sessions to meet the requirement.
  • After you complete the GENERAL training you will be offered a choice of SPECIALTY SPECIFIC training.
  • If you do not find your specialty listed - please use one of the miscellaneous topics such as "Evaluation and Management Guidelines", " Use of Modifiers", "Regulatory Compliance", or "Research Billing Compliance".
  • Upon completion of both parts, the system will send a confirmatory e-mail - please keep it for your records.

As members of the Medical Center community, it is our responsibility to act ethically and legally, and to document and bill for professional services appropriately and in accordance with the law.

If you need further instructions or have questions please call OFBC at 212-305-0570 and you will be connected with one of the Billing Compliance Managers.
